The Creatives Getaway

September 9, 2014

Remember that "hush-hush" getaway Mrs Rax and I have been planning? Well, last weekend we finally got to spend time with 8 other talented, lovely and hilarious creatives in not-so-sunny Pearl Beach.

Though the rain was visible (and audibly) present, it certainly didn't dampen our creative spirits and moods! We cooked and ate like kings, learnt off each other's skills through workshops, drank Pinot Gris over Monopoly and took photos of absolutely anything and everything we could get our hands on. It was relaxing, refreshing and good for the soul to be amongst like-minded people and I am so truly ecstatic there is already talk of another get together soon.

Of course, this weekend could not have happened without the generosity of our sponsors, who will get special mention and love on the blog over the next week or so. But for now, I'm sending some extra large virtual hugs to:

Innocent Bystander // for providing us with one of the best Pinot Gris I've ever tasted. Oh and don't get me started on that Moscato!

The Floury Baker // for your generosity with all the food you provided us with. They were some of the best cakes and tarts I've ever had, and that chicken cacciatore? That should be a staple in every household.

Bahen & Co. // for all those too-good-to-be-true chocolate bars. I don't think any of us wanted to tear the packaging apart because it's too pretty to stare at.

Frozen Dough Co. // Eveyour cookies are too good. I'm not exaggerating when I say we used them as a "base" for everything we ate.

The Lost & Found Department // that Falcon enamel tray came in so handy for our weekend of styling and shooting!

Pepperink Tattoos // for making all our dreams come true. We've all wished we could have sweet-looking tattoos without the actual pain so really, they were just ideal!

Love Bex // two words - funfetti confetti! Who doesn't like confetti?!

West Elm Australia // for those gorgeous market tote bags we stuffed silly with the things mentioned above!

For all the girls who hosted workshops throughout this weekend; Helen and her 'helarious' terrarium workshop, Chantal and that itsy-bitsy mini marzipan station, Chloe and her amazing Japanese book-binding skills, lovely Galina and her beginners calligraphy class (I'm hooked now) and Rachael with her Parisian flan demo and for flying all the way from New Zealand to be with us! You have all inspired and encouraged me in some ways and I can't thank you enough for letting me in your lives.

To the woman of the century, Erika Rax - thank you for being such a wonderful co-hostess! It's been so fun collaborating and working together. Thank you for snapping away all weekend (photos above all belong to her), and for being such a rock star throughout this whole process. Now, how many days until our October picnic again?
