Alphabet Family Journal

June 3, 2014

I love watching people plan, persevere and push through to live their dreams. This publication of the Alphabet Family Journal is a wonderful example of that. Luisa Brimble, who is (and continues to be) one of the biggest creative inspiration for me, has envisioned a magazine that is more than just a publication but more importantly, a journal of people who create a home together. A beautiful storytelling of real and honest families, and realistic portraits of the beauty and not-so-beautiful moments of everyday life.

I received my advanced copy of Issue A at the end of last week and I haven't been able to part with it since it arrived (my husband thinks I'm a tad obsessed). As I flick through every page, I'm left inspired, in awe and more reassured of just how wonderful and crucial family life is. Everyone has their own different ways of establishing family life and people's definitions of 'home' are so varied, but this is where the beauty lies. The truth is - there is no one definition of what 'home' should look like. Home is where family is. It is where we do life; messy or organised, calm or chaotic, empty or crowded. Home is simply where your heart and soul rests.

Thank you Luisa for dreaming up this wonderful publication of yours. You've captured and represented the concept of family so truthfully and wonderfully, and the magazine itself is one huge visual feast! My one question is - what will you do after you've published Issue Z? Ha!
