Lately...

February 7, 2014

I've been challenged by a friend of mine to evaluate just how much time I'm spending on the internet and social media on a daily basis. For one whole day, I documented how much time I would spend on Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Twitter / Emails / Blogs etc and no surprises here - I spend A LOT of time switching on to these things.

Not an entirely a bad thing if you have nothing else to do during the day but when I have a beautiful 17 month old girl wanting my whole undivided attention, sometimes I admit I can get a little too distracted by all these other things. My thoughts are completely filled with Instagram posts, Facebook updates, blog comments and what new things I can discover on Pinterest (amen?), and I hate the thought of doing a half-hearted job when it comes to my sweet little lady. My whole day should be about HER and with only 2 months left of full time mummy-hood (yes folks, I'm finally heading to work - sobs), I should really make the most of the time I have at home because I know I'll be missing it so much.

So today, I'm going to...

Switch off my mobile and computer for most of the day and will allow myself to turn them only during nap time.

Take Scarlet out for a babycino and a long long play date at the park. Maybe pick some flowers (her new favourite thing) and discover some more stairs (also her latest craze - she will point at any form of stairs and yell out "COOOOOO!" which translates to "cool!").

End of mummy-rant. Over & out.

  2. Oh that's so hard, I'm always constantly checking on social media forms! You have a better reason to switch it off though. If I had a girl as cute as yours I wouldn't think twice either!!

    1. It was super hard Meagan, but it's amazing how nice it was not to have to "think" about all those things. I had such a lovely day with my girl!

    1. Thanks Sally! She's got an eye for colours huh?! I can't believe I've been off work for nearly 2 years - crazy. I'm not sure I'm going to cope on my first day of work, ha.

  6. I'm only a new 'mum' but I've noticed this as well. I now try to get all my online stuff done before Miss 9 gets home. I'm reading a book called Hands Free Mama and while it's nothing entirely new it's just a gentle reminder to enjoy this age and time with her.
